Cari’s Journey – Part One

Ready to jump on the magic carpet ride of your life? Vicki is your guide!

I started working with Vicki for one reason: I knew it was time to make MY HEALTH a priority in my life – including getting my body in shape. What I also knew is that I did not want to do it like I’ve always done it in the past: restrictive dieting, excessive working out and obsessing over food.

What’s occurred in my life since I started working with Vicki as my coach is nothing short of a miracle.

Here’s just a short list of the transformations that have taken place so far:
(special note: this list is an example of major shifts that have happened in my life that is also very personal to me.  What I know for sure is you will have your own shifts – unique to you! If you jump on the magic carpet, hold on, because you cannot guess right now what’s in store for you!)

·  For the first time ever in my life I view FOOD in a whole new, healthier way.  Food used to be the enemy, now I see it for what it is – a gift from God. When viewed in this way wholesome food GIVES you so much more than simply lower calories.  It fills you with love, sunshine and positive energy. Truly understanding this has been a miracle in my life. I never knew before FOOD could feel so good. If this seems unbelievable to you, that’s OK, just know it’s possible.

·  I now know the major difference between trying to CONTROL my diet vs having a DISCIPLINED practice of consciously choosing what is right for me, my body and my wellbeing in each moment. Over-control is NOT healthy, it is actually quite harmful and will backfire. Consciously choosing from a place of love for yourself will not backfire.

·  Transformation is possible when you look for the REASONS behind why you self-sabotage yourself with too much food. Understanding the role your life story and choices make is a KEY to putting an end to suffering.

One of the things I have loved so much about working with Vicki are the surprises! Over and over again I’ve been WOW’d and surprised by the new insights I’ve gained on this journey. Around every turn I’ve discovered something about myself, what I need to heal or let go of, in order to finally claim my wellbeing, vibrant health and healthy body.

This is just Part One of my story. I’m not “complete” yet…there is more to do to fully come into alignment with the health I want to experience in my life. What I do know is that I’ll get there. I’ll get there because I dared to have the courage to finally do it different. Give up control. And listen to my own inner wisdom. For this Vicki has been a very special gift in my life. I adore her, appreciate her, trust her and feel inspired by her.

Trust the little voice inside of you that already knows you’re not going to lose weight or get healthy by doing it the same way as you’ve always done it. Listen to the little voice inside of you that’s nudging you to do it different this time. It’s a powerful step to a life changing experience you can only dream possible today.

Each week I’d say “this is the week that will be different”. I know what I need to do. Take the time to plan my meals. Take the time to get the exercise I need. Take the time to rest and maybe just sit and read or just sit and to nothing! But the end of the week comes and I haven’t done any of it. Until I talked with Vicki. Vicki asked me if I cancel appointments with clients. Of course not! They’re important! Then she asked me if I was important. Of course I am! Then the big question…..! Was I willing to make appointments with myself to do the things I needed to do and commit to keeping them.  Yikes. Now I really had to be in alignment with my statement – I am important enough to make an appointment to take care of myself and keep it.  So I got out my calendar and together we found a few blocks of time for me. And you know what, it worked! A few weeks later, very busy weeks mind you, and I was questioning if I was still doing this. Well I just looked at my calendar and I did find the time to get in some exercise, some fresh air and a trip to the museum! Ok. So this is working! Thank you Vicki for making me realize that I’m important enough to go on my calendar!

Dear Vicki,
Soon I will be having my last session and I realize I have mixed emotions.  I can see and am thrilled with the many things I have learned and the progress I have made. Your informative and wise counsel has reshaped my thinking on such a variety of subjects. From the very first session together, your ability to hone in on the true issues always amazed me and I have had many Ah-ha moments along the way.   You teach in a way that is educational, intuitive, instructive and caring.  The knowledge and practical suggestions you impart about what we feed our bodies and why, how we can transform our thought processes, along with how we can nurture our individual spirit, are not only very enlightening but are to our GREAT benefit. It certainly has been for me.  I have been able to easily implement into my life the suggestions I have been given because you have helped me to understand them.  You have made no “real” demands, however, have given wise counsel so that I, myself, am educated and gain insights that transform my choices almost automatically.  Like you always say, it is taking small steps and building on those, one step at a time.  You have taught me more clearly about the “whole” of wellness and it truly does comprise of mind, body and spirit and if one of those areas is lacking, there is no real harmony.  Thank you for teaching and showing me how I can make myself better in all areas – thus experience the “whole” of wellness. I want you to know too, how very much I appreciated your open and receptive spirit – I never had the feeling of being rushed and I always knew everything was geared to who I am. Your follow-up process helped me to solidify my new learnings and I was able to concentrate only on the session itself, without worry of taking notes etc. Reinforcement, clarity and the printed information were a key take away and something which I will continue to use and review. You have encouraged me to try new nutritional foods and methods – this has taught and served me well. I can’t believe how quickly the time has past. From our first session I knew if I were a true participate,
it would be life altering for the better and it has been.I began a journey 6 months ago that has changed what I now know… about food and how extremely important it is to make healthy choices for that gift we have been given, our bodies. Also, how I view myself and who I am and what part “feeding” all areas affects the whole of who I am. I am a better person because of it and I cannot begin to thank you enough. I understand this is all a continued process and yet, I know I have a solid foundation from which to build upon. I am sad to have our sessions end, but who knows, I have so much to learn I just may call you again…smile. Vicki, My wife, C, just read me her letter to you and I would like to take this opportunity to add my thoughts. Though my wife is a positive and loving person, I found that on the days C had her sessions with you, she was even more at peace and would feel energized with what she had learned and couldn’t wait to share it with me.   She felt enthusiastic about making positive changes in her life and I am happy to say, I too was the recipient to benefit from the knowledge gained.  Through our discussions, even my thinking has taken another direction a more, whole body, healthy approach, if you will; however, I must admit I am a bit slower with the up take. I have always been in C’s corner and wanted her to do what was necessary in order to make herself happy.  I was a little unsure how these sessions may benefit long term, however, I now know I was wrong to think negatively in any way.  Though at times in the past my wife felt “out of control”, she seems to have learned that the process of change isn’t a race and that it is just that – a process.  What a wonderful thing to come to terms with. From a husband’s perspective, I think from all the praise I heard from C about you and your sessions together, accompanied by the positive impact it has had on her and our lives together, I have to say I am extremely pleased. We do eat better. We are not only learning more about nutrition, we also care more about our nutrition and what we put into our bodies. We are nurturing ourselves with quiet times, trying to exercise more and take more walks and this has lead to stronger spirits as well.  We now are listening to our bodies more and even going to bed earlier instead of forcing ourselves to stay up because of a TV program or thinking we have to check to see if we received an email etc.  We may not be perfect, but we are heading in the right direction.  It is our thinking process that is continuing to grow and change and your contribution to this process has been invaluable. Nurturing our bodies and our mind has, and will continue to be, a continuous growth journey we will take together. So, I thank you for being a wonderful mentor and counselor to C, as well as assisting in my growth as well. Thank you.
